Jumping out of the x-room windows and sitting under the trees. The "French Side" was pretty good too! Hanging with my friends like John Blainey, Chris Ellis, Rick Nugent, Gordie and the gang! and all the others. It was a great time. This page has brought back many fond memories.
Enjoy these times ...They were great!!

Band practice... we might have looked like nerds, but we were having the time of our lives!
Ever tried the "Royal Flush"? We'd flush all the toilets at the morning recess bell. Played havoc on the plumbing, not sure the pipes could stand the pressure after all these years!
Ms. Ship (later became Litvak)
I wish I'd known then, what I know now. I wouldn't have worried so much about tomorrow.

The camaraderie between teachers and students, Trojans Football, variety shows, back plaza pilgrimages, elimination 'death' frizbee games, snowball barrages over the roof to the French side, and all the great friends.
Stay in contact with all your friends and acquaintances. In the future it opens up great opportunities to be reunited in fun, work, and friendship. Plan a reunion! You would be amazed at the amount of fun you will have, the people you get to hook up with again - students and teachers. You will see that the spirit that once was does live again. Stay in school - helps with the career!

Hmm.. that's hard to pin-down. Playing Recorder in ol' Doc Sam's class. Going to the PB and the Residence for lunch. Waiting in the office to see Mr. Dore with Bob Bezner. Too many to pick from.
Work hard at something. Have fun. Try to stay in touch with your friends. Wear sunscreen.
I liked them all. The guidance councellor (name?) was a super nice man.
I sometimes hand with friends (Gordie, Rob Aucoin, Rathbone, Bruce Stevenson) from PC and we often talk about those days. Looking back it was an amazing time and a period of major change in my life. I didn't realize it then. The comments here are so cool. The names!

One of my fondest memory was the '78 version of the P.C. Variety Show. We called ourselves The "Black-Light Robots". The group was made up of Francis Varge, Steve Rompala, and myself. We did a little musical skit bathed in black-light wearing white gloves... along with the rest of our clothes, of course! We performed to Earth Wind & Fire's "Shining Star". The crowd's reaction was incredible, and we tied for 1st place for best act. Another great memory was simply my last year at P.C. Being a senior, I felt I had everything under control. And of course I was going out with a "green-eyed brunette babe" at the time. And she knows who she is!!! How's your 'KH'. Anyway, as we said,...'78, the class that's GREAT...
Enjoy your high school years as much as you can. Establish your own style and individuality and don't get caught up in other's perception of you.
Mr. Higgins
Mr. Domanyi, Miss Mohabir

You must be the change you wish to see in the world.
Mme. Drouin (French)

Moving out of the West Island and being the mom of two teenage boys has made me somewhat of a hermit. Nice to see a lot of familiar names here! Not an easy site to find. I've been looking for this for a while!
Hanging out with friends and finally graduating.
Keep up with your studies, you need schooling to get somewhere in this world today. This message also goes to my daughter who is graduating from PCHS in 2002. Good luck and have fun!

Wow. It's amazing seeing all the familiar names. I hope you are all keeping well. Any news on another reunion? I missed the last one unfortunately and would love to see you all again. Feel free to e-mail me anytime.

Pulling the threads in the old orange carpets making the line travel underneath the partitions into the other classrooms.
Stay in school - there'll be lots of time throughout life to make moeny, party and travel. As well, you never know what course you'll take that will somehow prepare you for a career in a field that doesn't even exist yet. Who knew not taking typing (now called keyboarding), would have affected me throughout my career in the computer-field.

Unfortunately, it's a blur having been there for the 8th & 9th grades only & spending most of that time across the street at a very cold ice rink!
Be true to yourself. And never, NEVER give up!
Favorite quote: "No one can make you feel inferior without your consent."
Mr. Miller
Though you probably don't remember me, I've enjoyed catching up with all of you on this site.
For anyone that might be curious... After moving to Colorado for my 10th grade year I came back to PCHS & a bit of a mess (The U.S system didn't blend well with Canadian schooling it seems) So,I ended up stretching out my last high school years to accommodate my training & graduated from Riverdale in '79 (all good because I had skipped 1st grade anyhow). I joined Disney On Ice in '82 (stayed there until '95), married Jim, a fellow ice mate in '87, had Ryan ('94), Sarah ('97), Jessica ('00). We are loving life & have just moved from Chicago to Rochester, MN.
Just curious: Did any of you take Physics at McGill from my Dad, Prof. Jim Kitching?
Take care & best to all of you & your families :)

Skiing in Switzerland with 20 other avid PCHS skiers. What a great time we had on the slopes and in the bars afterwards.
Enjoy this time of your lives now. Make friends, play sports and find the time to study to ensure that you can continue your education (Unless you are like Bill Gates).

It was a much simpler time...there were no cell phones, no social media bombarding us everyday...we made friends that were real and lasting...AND our school was bustling; clubs , sports and who can forget our variety shows! + Mr.Hemens policing the cafeteria every lunch, we made his life so miserable +and who the heck was 'Mike Kirk'?-always being called to the office +our school dances which were amazing ; I met my first love, Jennifer Leduc at one of them, she was in sec.4 and we fell crazy for each other. It was a special time.
Get your yearbook and have everyone who crossed paths with you at P.C.H.S. sign it and have them make a note...I'm lookingat my yearbook now 'Phoenix '78', it's all black with gold lettering and it's filled with memories...you can't go back, I know ...well maybe for a moment in time you can.
Seabrooke , Tondino , and my most favorite Mr.Lummis who taught physics- he gave me the best advice ever as I was barely passing his class, he said to me after another failed exam," John, keep out of science! "...advice that l took without question...l passed his class with a 50%!

Studying electronics for three years.
The thing that most teachers don't tell you is that school does not exist to fill your mind with facts. The historical purpose of education is to learn how to learn.
V. Pasek
Having only discovered my mind 10 years ago, I'm in pursuit of truth personified. There are only two things sure in life: Death and taxes. Therefore I've devoted my life to the study of life. I believe I've discovered life's purpose. I thank God for my devoted wife, Lia, who has born me eight children. Their names are: James (85), Reuben (87), Nathan (89), Grace (92), Bethany (94), Adam (95), Esther (97), and Victoria (99). We live on a 50 acre farm which presently supports three cows. We seasonally raise chickens and pigs and pasture our neighbour's Belgian horses. All are welcome to visit us (not all at once of course). Just give us a shout. Beware, we particularly enjoy deep meaningful discussions.

Skipping class and going for a walk in the woods behind the school, 'hanging out' on the French side with Karen and Nat, playing 'truth or dare' with Geraldine Casey in the caf at lunch time, History class with Mr. Cato and English class with Mr. McNaught....
Even though you don't know what you want to 'be' yet, remember to try a little of everything and to keep an open mind.

Mr. McNaught

The people I met there - good friends, teachers and even people I didn't get to know very well. Every once in a while, I think back and realize it was remarkable group of people.

There are so many but the fun we had on Grad night is what I remember most. Our school trip to England was fantastic but the most memorable of all was Grad night when the power steering was broken in our car and we also ended up driving the wrong way down a one way street. The best friends I've ever had were those I made at PCHS.
Perseverance will triumph! Always believe in yourself and your abilities. Dream big, plan well, work hard, smile always and good things will happen. Remember to stay in the positive and know that everything happens for the best. It's a matter of moving your point of view around until you can see it.
Mr. MacDougall
Mr. Tondino
I would love to hear from any of my fellow classmates. Andrew, its great to hear that you are doing so well. I have thought of you often.
McGill University
It was all good times, especially the Grad. Hanging out with Michelle Bertrand, Kenny, Steve St. Pierre, Gord Shipman, Blip, Holly Edwards, concerts at the forum, a winning hockey team, beers at the Manoir & Rez.
Believe it or not, you'll look back fondly one day...
Mr. Cato
Good job, Steve!
Graduating with honors when most people had long since given up on this long haired, party going, music playing, hockey playing, unpredictable kid.
There will come a time in your life when you wish you could do it all again. Not so you could change things, but so that you could enjoy the times you had with the people you knew, one more time. Keep your priorities straight. If a guy that played hockey when he could, played music in clubs through the week and on weekends, party with the best of them and still graduate with honors and get the teachers award for his efforts. You can too!
Mr. Goes (drafting)

For those that don't know. Patricia (Bremner) and I got Married in 1980. We have three great kid's (ask anyone that knows them). Ryan (1980), Alanna (1982) and P.J. (1995). We own and operate a music store that sells instruments, gives lessons, does repairs and rentals. We are soon going to have a small recording studio as well. Believe it or not, 1/3 of our regular customers are from the West Island. We miss the food alot. It must be the water in Ontario, even if it's cooked by an ex Montrealer, it doesn't taste as good as it does when your there.
Skiing sucks here too! We're 10 minutes from a ski hill that is about 1/2 the height of Mount Royal, typical of Ontario. However the area that we are in is a lot like the Laurentians, very scenic, and it's only saving grace. Probably why so many ex West Islanders live up this way. Forty minutes out of Toronto, but a world away.
On a different note. If anyone ever comes across Pat Donnelly or knows how to get ahold of him. Please contact me. If your in the area, please drop in to the store. "BROADWAY MUSICAL" on Broadway (hwy 9 west of 10) Orangeville, Ont. We would love to see you.

The smoking parlor on the French side... Fooling the vice principal several times into thinking I was a student on the French side. Being kicked out of physics for being a smart ass! Whole class revolting against Mrs. Isler for trying to make us read Tom Sawyer's Huckleberry Finn. Lastly, like all of you, cutting classes and partying with fellow classmates.
Enjoy the time you have, cause you never know when life will throw you a curve.

Thursday nights at the 1300 with the usual cast of characters! Gatherings at the Sutcliffe residence! Impromptu (during class!) meetings at Luke's to bolster his beer can collection! Lunch at the "Res" before gym class, made for quite the handball games! Dags with the b-ball crowd!
Not really! We found it difficult for 38 year olds to hold our attention when we were their age - I'm sure they're no different than we were. They just dress funnier and have less hair!

The time that Mr. McNaught took us to the Centaur Theatre in Montreal to see the play Goya. It was so cool to be treated as adults instead of the teens that we were for a day. Also the grade 10 school trip to Washington, D.C. We tested the patience of the chaperones that week!
