P.C. UPDATE

Rememberance Day

On November 11, Rememberance Day, Secondary 4 and 5 students were invited to a special ceremony in the school auditorium. There they were able to hear, first hand, about the trajedy of war. Five veterans, each from legion 91, were gracious enough to help us remember all those, including themselves, who made the sacrifice of going to war. The veterans; Bill Ross, Norm Bonsor, Roger Bourke, Bill Toichie and Gil Drolel helped us to better understand the truth and aftermath of war; how those who fought suffer even after the war has ended; at least on the outside. The veterans were then presented with $500 raised by the students who sold poppies for the occasion. That evening a brief segment from the ceremony was broadcast on NEWSWATCH. P.C. would like to thank the veterans for coming and teaching us. A special thanks to all students who participated and especially to Mr. Patenaude who made it all happen.

Grad

This year's annual Masquerade Ball took place on Friday, October 31. Even though attendance was low, the Grads still had fun dancing the night away! We'd like to thank those who showed school spirit and all teachers and Secondary 4 students who made the night possible. Best costume that night went to Melanie Kusznireckyj. Last but not least, who could forget the special appearance made by the Spice Girls. Thanks Girls!!!

Stratford

From October 1st to October 3rd, students from grades 9-11 visited Stratford Ontario. They enjoyed plays, that included the musical Camelot, the mythological Oedipus Rex, and of course, Shakespeare's Romeo and Juliet and the Taming of the Shrew. The students also visited a Mennonite City. They would like to thank Mr. Pellegrino, Mrs. Korany, Mr. McDougall and Mrs. Lang for their entertainment on the bus.

Environment

This year the environment committee has had some trouble getting on its feet, but its first project is on its way; we're thinking of adopting an animal from the eco-museum. If we do, we'll have to raise the money ourselves in order to adopt the animal on behalf of the school. It would be ours for a year. All those who helped out would then be invited to an orientation evening at the eco-museum. There is a wide range of animals from which we could chose. They include deers, bears, hawks, bald eagles, wolves and coyotes. We would like to hear your opinion on this idea. You can give your comments to Mr. Cato or contact Sophia Foley. New members are always welcome!

PAC

So far this year, PAC members have been very busy. The choir, who was participated in the Thanksgiving Liturgy and Rememberance Day celebration, is now preparing for its Christmas Concert at Chateau-sur-le-Lac, a seniors home that is visited every Monday by students from P.C.. The concert will take place December 18. New visitors to the Chateau are always welcome. We are also kicking off our food drive. Boxes can be found in your homeroom, so feel free to bring in any non-perishable food items. The food baskets will be delivered to the Lions Club at the A Ma Baie Chalet. Please be generous and help those in need. Thanks.

Dance

The Bust-A-Move dance was a great success and the Dance Committee would like to thank all the teachers that gave their time in order to supervise, the students that helped out and came, and last but not least, Mrs. Wilkinson. We hope to see everyone at the next dance in December - so clear your calendar and be ready to parte!!!

Yearbook

The cover for this year's Yearbook has already been chosen and set!!! Right now we're in the process of getting teacher, team and candid pictures. Our biggest priority is collecting adds - WE NEED YOUR HELP!!! See Tina, Alisha or Mrs. Caporuscio to find out how you can help Yearbook prices from going up.

P.C. SPORTS

Co-Ed Volleyball

Once again this year Secondary 4 and 5 students are participating in P.C.H.S' co-ed volleyball league. The teams consist of a maximum of 3 students who played on the school's team and a maximum of 10 students overall. It is always very much enjoyed by all the students (there is always tons of students who take part) and even the teachers who have a really good  team of their own.

Soccer

This year P.C.H.S was proud to have 2 soccer teams, Bantam Boys, and Juvenile Girls.

The Bantam Boys had a slow start to the season losing their first 2 games. There were some changes made and the coaching staff was expanded, with the result that the team started playing as a team, and went on to remain undefeated the rest of the season. The boys had lots of goal scoring power in Vito Contino, Anthony Auberga, Deion Mearns and the other forwards. The team was also strong in midfield and defense, and there was strong goaltending throughout the season by Carl Ritondo, who had 3 shutouts in a row. The team advanced through the first round of the playoffs beating Royal West 6-0, but lost in an exciting semi-final game against Riverdale. The team was down 4-0 at the half, then caught up with 4 goals by team captain Anthony Auberga only to lose 5-4 in overtime. Great season though guys!!

The Juvenile Girls Team, coached by Lisa Desanctis (a former P.C.H.S student) consisted of Lisa Evans (goalkeeper), Julie Newin, Vickie Kuchlein, Tanya Cools-Lartique, Shivani Gajusingh and Tanya Koncskysy on defense; Rosanne D'Orazio, Stefanie Sansfacon, Monica Trozzo, Julianna Jasinsky and Kelly Matthews as midfield; and Michelle Harrison, Julie Langlais, Jen Scanzano, and Jen Saraceno up front as forwards. The girls played 8 games during the season, and were undefeated, while scoring 34 goals, and only letting 1 get by. Jen Saraceno and Jen Scanzano were the teams major goal scorers, while it was nearly impossible to get the ball by Julie Newin (the team's sweeper) and goalkeeper Lisa Evans.

In quarterfinals of the playoffs the girls met Villa Maria, a team they'd never played during regular season games. The game started out alright with two goals scored before halftime by Stefanie Sansfaçon and Jen Scanzano. Villa Maria came back though catching P.C. off guard scoring three goals in the second half. Although the girls had plenty of chances to tie it up (especially the last ten minutes of the game) they were unlucky as crossbar after crossbar was hit. The final score was 3-2.

All in all the season was great and everyone had a lot of fun.

Volleyball

This year our school has the privilege to have three talented volleyball teams; the Midget Boys team, the Juvenile Girls team and the Juvenile Boys team.

The Midget Boys team consists of twelve players all worth mentioning; Marc Armanious, Richard Abuani, Junior Galdones, Joseph Boayes, Paul Baluyot, Micheal Baldoni, Ashton Bishop, Marcel Calpito, Jason Lopes, Tyler Kalaizis, Marques Piass and Nick Shiomi.  In their first tournament which was held on September 24th, they played extremely strong games, winning three games out of four.  In their second tournament, on October 1st, the guys played a spectacular game winning five out of six games. Paul Baluyot and Nick Shiomi both played exceptionally well defensively and offensively. They made highlight plays that helped the rest of the gang.  On October 15th, they won three games out of four. The team is now ranked second overall with eleven points.

The Juvenile Girls team is composed of 12 truly skilled girls.  Here is this year's roster : Joanne Ansell, Rachel Arts, Alisha Biggs, Nancy DesLauriers, Adrianna DiValerio, Julia Furino, Melanie Kusznireckyg, Sophie Paré, Trisha Porte, Maria Vinasi, Julie White and Melanie Wodciki.  On September 23rd, the girls had their first tournament and showed great effort, winning three out of their six games. September 29th, they played with a lot of determination and won four games out of six.  On the 14th of October they played perfectly winning all four games.  They lost their last tournament on October 20th. The girls team is ranked fourth with nine points.

As for the Juvenile Boys team, like the other two teams, they have very talented players.  They are Chris Brkich, Matthew Boloten, Micheal Calcagni, James Cacchione, Bobby Forbes, Brian Gauthier, Patrick Jakobiw, Renato Rispoli, Micheal Trainor and Josip Vinski. Off to a great start, in they won all four of their games in their first tournament on September 23rd. Unfortunately they've lost their last two tournaments. They are ranked 3rd with 8 points.

Our school is fortunate to have great teams like these. I'm sure they would like to have more people come to cheer them on. If you want to show great school spirit, come out and encourage the teams on. They will surely appreciate it.

P.C.H.S.'s Cross-Country Running Team 1997

This year the GMAA Cross Country Championships were held at Beaver Lake in Mount Royal on October 7. P.C.H.S.'s team, made up of Cynthia DeLuca (Sec. 2), Tony Albanese (Sec.2), Jordan Moldovan (Sec.2), Jennifer Pereira (Sec.3), Daphne Paiva (Sec.4), Jonathan Hachey (Sec.4), Rowena Gonzales (Sec.5), Jason Moldovan (Sec.5), and Chris Brkich (Sec.5), was coached by Mr.Olenocin and managed by Jason Moldovan. The team has been practicing for over 16 long hours, and believe me, all the hard practice paid off.

Cynthia placed 36th among 88 runners, while Tony placed 66th from 74 participants. Daphne placed 54th out of 92 runners, Jonathan M placed 57th out of 93 people and Rowena received 10th place among 53 participants. Jason placed 20th and Chris placed 46th, both out of 65 people. Unfortunately, Jonathan H. could not finish the race because of a sprained ankle. Jennifer, who placed a stunning 6th out of 92 runners, will be competing in the provincial tournament on October 24th and 25th. We wish her good luck and we congratulate the school team on a job extremely well done!

ADVICE

Hi, I'm Jenna and I'm here if you ever need advice, about, well, anything. You can drop off your questions in Mr. Cato's room. Don't worry, nobody will know who you are. Feel free to ask for advice, to give some or just make a comment about something that's on your mind.

Dear Jenna,

Lately I feel like nothing in my life is going the way it's supposed to be. I mean, it's just that everybody else seems to always be doing something really cool and I'm not. Sometimes I feel like everybody has been set in their own group, like they all belong and I don't. Sometimes I feel like there's something wrong with me. Is there?

-Different

Dear Different,

First of all - THERE IS NOTHING WRONG WITH YOU!!!!! Everyone, at one time or another feels the way you do. A lot of teenagers tend to feel that way because they're always changing and so is what they want in a friend. If you're bored with your weekend routine try joining a sport, a gym, a club or even getting a job. With winter coming there'll be a lot of new things for you to do. Try to remember that it's not the number of friends that you have, but how good of a friend that matters. What good are a bunch of friends that you can't trust compared to one friend that'll be there no matter what. Besides, all those people that you see, I know they have their problems too - things aren't always what they seem.

Dear Jenna,

I like this girl and supposedly she likes me too. The problem is that whenever I try to, you know, talk to her or anything, she acts like she's rather be dead. What should I do?

-Confused

Dear Confused,

I think that the best thing for you to do is just ask the girl if she likes you or not. If she does, ask her if she wants to go on a date or something. If you don't have the chance to talk to her without her running or hiding from you, she's well, probably not the one for you.

Dear Jenna,

I have a major problem. There's this guy who is completely in love with me, but unfortunately our feelings aren't mutual. He follows me everywhere and even slips corny little love letters into my locker. How can I tell him that I'm not interested and to back off without hurting his feelings?

-Suffocated

Dear Suffocated,

Don't worry, this guy doesn't mean any harm. Think of his obsession as a compliment. Not many girls have the chance to get this much attention and admiration from a guy. Although, if it becomes a little out of hand and you feel threatened by his psychotic love letters, than try talking to him nicely. Don't be too hard on him!

ANYTHING

Why Yell?

Maybe the hardest moment of my life as a student, was when I was trying my very best to understand something in class, listening, taking notes-even asking questions. Finally-I understood. To be sure, I raised my hand and asked my teacher a really simple question. The only part of the answer that I heard was the yelling, screaming-telling me what I couldn't do, that "why couldn't I see the answer as it should be"? Personally, I do one of two things when I'm yelled at: I either cry or I get very angry. This time I couldn't do either-all I could manage was a shocked "I'm sorry".

I regret telling my teacher that I was sorry. The truth is, I hadn't done anything wrong. Just like it's a teacher's job to help me learn, it's my job to ask questions. To some of you, this may sound ridiculous, that I care what my teacher says. I don't care if my teacher were the Prime Minister or the guy from Prodigy. All I did was ask a question. If I ask my friend a question (nicely) I don't expect attitude in return. Parents yell at siblings when one yells at the other. How then, is it okay for a teacher to yell at a student for trying to understand? It's wrong and in truth, an abuse of power.

Overall, on behalf of students, I'd like to let teachers know, with utmost of respect, that sometimes, a student really does try and needs to ask a question to understand. Even though you may see the answer clearly,  naturally a student shouldn't have to. By yelling, all a teacher can do is keep the student from learning, not to mention embarrass and lower their self esteem. Try to keep that in mind the next time someone who is trying raises their hand.

Christmas Spirit

Another Christmas is just around the corner. Who can wait - I know that I'm already trying to guess what I'll find under my Christmas tree or if my mom will get me those Moist tickets in time for the concert on December 1. Come on-it's the normal thing to do - it's Christmas, you know, presents - what I want.... Sure it's perfectly fine to ask for stuff that you've been dying for, as long as you stop, think about and help kids and teenagers that are just like us-accept they don't even have a cracker to leave for Santa and his reindeer. It's those kids and families, the ones who've never tasted a warm, steaming turkey dinner or who don't know what it's like to have a Christmas tree, they're the ones that we've gotta help. It's as simple as making your Christmas list; just donate those toys that you've forgotten all about, the canned veggies that you don't want to eat anyway or the clothes that don't fit, to any of the zillions of charities that are waiting for people like you. Here at P.C., you can donate non-perishable food items in your home room class; the one with the most food receives a prize. So you see, you've just got to give a little to receive some. Believe you me-Christmas is always easier to enjoy when you now that you've kept at least one, sweet five year old from going hungry....

ONCE UPON A TIME

The Rain

My name is Mina Lockwood. My sister Amy and I have lived alone, for two years now, without our parents. They died in a plane crash, coming home from their second honeymoon, They were celebrating their 25th wedding anniversary, in Hawaii. Amy and I were standing at the air port, by the big bay window, were we could see all the planes landing. It was a gloomy day and it look like it was going to start to rain. Over the loud speakers they announced that our parents flight was just about to land. We watched excitedly as the plane began to land, then suddenly it toke a nose dive straight into the ground. The plane instantly exploded, and my parents were gone forever. There was no time to react. I still don't really remember what happened after that, all I know is that it started to rain.

Now I sit by my sisters hospital bedside, holding her limp hand and praying. Just yesterday, Amy and I were driving to our country cottage in St. Pauls. We decided to move there so that we could get away from all the pain and grief back home. We haven't been there since I was five years old so we don't remember much of it. As we were driving down main street a car whipped around the corner and rammed right into us. I wasn't injured, but it was the drivers side that had been hit. Some people that had witnessed the accident called 911 right away. As I silently sat in the ambulance I wondered; Why did this have to happen to us? Is our family cursed?  I was in some sort of daze, people were crowding around me, asking if I was o.k.

It's funny, I thought, that of all  the days in the year we had to have an accident, we had to have on the day of our parents' anniversary. At least Amy is alive. "She's in critical condition" they said. Critical condition, I can't believe that Amy might die. What would I do in this big world, with no friends or family? After the first accident, Amy and I stuck together like glue. I lost interest in my friends from school and they were the only friends I ever really had. I guess they didn't know how to react or treat  me, 'cause when I came back to school after the funeral they didn't even say hi. It's hard to believe that people you've trusted all your life could turn their backs on you as soon as the though gets going.

It's been two days now, that I've been sitting by Amy's bedside. Amy's condition hasn't changed and now they say that if she doesn't wake up soon she may slip into a coma. I've been staring out the window watching the rain pour down. It's been raining since Amy's accident. I see people running across the parking lot into the bus shelter away from the beating rain. I hear foot steps coming down the hall. I turned around to look at Amy and saw that her eyes were open! I ran to her, telling her that I was here and that she was going to be o.k.

It's five months after the accident and Amy is doing great. She still has trouble walking, but her physiotherapist said that she'll be fine. We've started our new life, in our new home and their hasn't been a rainy day since.

FREEDOM OF SPEECH

Nerds, Geeks, Dweebs and Freaks

Why is it that some people are so popular while others are so cruelly rejected by society? These "rejects" include "nerds, geeks, dweebs, and freaks", the title of this article.

It all has to do with popularity. What does it mean to be popular? People become popular because of what society decides to see in them, whether it's looks, talent, intelligence, or a strong sense of humor. These people seem to have to qualities which others want. Everyone has some great qualities, but with many people, they're just not as readily apparent.

If people want to be more athletic, they will label someone who appears to be athletic as popular. It's simple!

Popularity has it's advantages: it feels wonderful to be showered with attention and approval, and to be looked upon with envy. But popularity, like many things that seem good at first, can have some painful repercussions. Only others can award popularity, and only others can take it away. There's no way you can hold on to it forever. You can be popular one day, and ignored the next.

Popularity is like a tall ladder; you can be at the very top - and it feels great - but there's always someone threatening to yank it out from under you... and it's a long way down.

One thing to remember: popularity must not be mistaken for friendship. True friendship is a strong, durable bond between people, one with a strong foundation, one which can't easily collapse, unlike popularity, which is always shaky.

Now, back to the "nerds, geeks, dweebs, and freaks". These are some people whose good qualities are shadowed by their not-so-good qualities, as few and as minor as they may be, and consequently, have never been "awarded" a chance to climb the ever-wobbly "Popularity Ladder".

Let's start with nerds.  What is a "nerd", exactly?  (...and I don't mean those sour little candies)  In dictionaries, a nerd is described as a person who is dull, unsophisticated, ineffective, foolish, feeble, or uninteresting. When most people think of nerds, they think of Steven Q. Urkel, star of the once-popular TV sitcom, Family Matters. But do "ineffective, foolish, feeble" people always have to wear big glasses and suspenders, and have their pants pulled way up to their chests? I seriously doubt it. Those around me often consider me a nerd (me? a nerd?), even though I don't wear suspenders, I have 20/20 vision, and my pants are usually worn well below the nipples. Well, I may be dull, unsophisticated, ineffective, foolish, feeble, or uninteresting, but if a nerd is what I am, then a nerd is what I'm proud to be. (But if I was uninteresting, why would you have read even this far into my article? You should be asleep by now!  Zzz...)

A "geek" is defined by Webster's New World College Dictionary as "any person considered to be different from others in a negative or bizarre way, as a teenager seen as being awkward...stupid, or antisocial". This same dictionary characterizes a "dweeb" as "a person regarded as socially dull, unsophisticated, foolish, awkward, etc." and a "freak" as "any abnormal animal, person, or plant; monstrosity". Remember that these are just names, that everyone has some wonderful qualities, and that you are who you are, even if it doesn't bring you to the top of the shaky "Popularity Ladder". Be proud: you're probably better off on safe, solid ground, anyway.

And one final note to those at the top of "The Ladder": don't spit down on those below you, because they could be the ones who catch you when you fall.

-Jonathan Summers, Sec. II

MAPLE LEAF FOREVER

"Two nations warring in the bosom of a single state... a struggle, not of principles, but of races."

One thing has been present in our Canadian past since the first Europeans set foot on this soil, this presence born of European rivalry for greater empires and thus corrupting the air which we breath henceforth. Fleur-de-Lys or Maple Leaf? Now that's a question. This question using masks has perverted the growth of a glorious nation.

Are we so horrific that a province wishes to leave our generous caress? Have we done wrong by allowing such a province to run it's own affairs for so long? Or have we done wrong by speaking our mother tongue? Perhaps we have been to kind and gentle towards such a province, this obviously would turn to anger and intolerance.

The province of Quebec promotes this intolerance, an example of which would be Bill 22 or Bill 101 alike. they both are clearly a deliberate attempt to shut out anglophones. That to enter into an English school (which of course is under funded) my parents must have gone to English school in Quebec and I am not allowed to have an English advertisement on display. I'm surprised it's not illegal for me to read the Montreal Gazette (after all it is "the English language daily"). Ignorance has much to do with it; Mr. Bouchard is their prophet and they will do as they are told. They, his mindless minions breed this ridiculous notion of independence and send this ignorance through their children. Not to say all French speaking Quebecers are primeval-those who are intelligent to realize the situation have done as other sentient beings and disregard this pathetic attempt at sovereignty. All this combined aggression toward federalist public is amazing, this I see as a giant misuse of power by government. Every action is taken to ensure that "No" voters get increasingly angry and frustrated to the point where they pack up and leave. This is the whole point; they can't win respectably so they will keep trying until enough "No" voters have left the province in the mean time, crippling everything we have here. All this because of some blind passion of foolishness.

The separatist movement doesn't seem to know that the world does not revolve around them. Canada is the nation-Quebec the province, equal in every respect to the other nine provinces. Many of these Quebec nationalists act now as if Quebec was a completely autonomous nation-state. I'm curious to how they would act after independence, when they can't get any unemployment insurance or welfare checks. Quebec would fall flat on its' face, with no currency, no postal services, no defenses and no help. We wouldn't have an economy or any industries and we would be helpless. After that even those hard line separatists who sit in the National Assembly wouldn't want to stay here. We would have nothing, socially a wasteland, economically a desert and perhaps, even the beginnings of a civil war.

"We cannot spend our entire lives trying to separate; in the end we must learn to live together". Going on this way has no logic and makes me wonder if people actually put thought into these things. Let me show you my reasoning. In the process of all this mass confusion and uncertainty, the Canadian economy suffers incredibly. Example: one Canadian dollar is 72 cents of the American currency. Along with this, the Quebec economy suffers even more. Hundreds of companies based in Quebec have moved to other provinces and other countries. People no longer immigrate to Quebec and people living here are emigrating, French and English alike. All the young graduates from university - they've all moved away. Why? Because there are no jobs here. The industries are diminishing. We go on like this and we will destroy ourselves. They seek something that will bring no good and in the process they also destroy. Why must everyone suffer so that a few may satisfy their selfish fantasies.

It seems as though we, the anglophones, get the short end of the stick each time a Nationalist party becomes the Provincial Government. When a federalist party is in power then go easy on the Separatists population, hoping to gain their vote in the same way the Guy Carlton did two hundred years earlier. As for when the Separatist Party is the government, they don't seem to care about the anglophone or what they see as the "No" vote. They shut down our hospitals, close our schools and whatever is open is under funded compared to similar French institutions. In my opinion the education and health care sectors should be changed in the constitution to be allocated to the Federal government so as to save us the (separatists) ax. All this seems like another effort on the part of the government to anger anglophones, thus we must emigrate to other provinces. This unfortunately causes less and less "No" votes and now you see the ulterior motive behind all these injustices (besides enraging us). If I'm not mistaken, the provincial government whether separatist or federalist, must take care of every single Quebecer, no matter what race, religion, sex or language. This isn't the case when only 49.43% of the population is considered.

Everclear

Tuesday October 21st Everclear came to play a private show at MusicWorld downtown in Complex Dejardins. The show was only for people who won tickets on the radio or who bought the new album "So much for the afterglow" at a participating Music World. About 150 people showed up to this small show. The music was great and the band finished off their set playing their four biggest songs; "Local God", "Everything to Everyone", "Santa Monica" and "Heroine Girl". Even though the performance was awesome the set up was really bad. The band played on floor level instead of a usual stage, this meant that the people in back of the crowd were unable to see the show. If you're a fan of Everclear you can look forward to seeing them come back in January.

SPAWN: Various Artists

When I first listened to this album I was very surprised. It's originality and creativity left me quite impressed. The record features 28 bands, which paired up to create 14 amazing tracks. It is based on the movie Spawn that came out around the same time as the album in mid-August. The soundtrack fits the movie perfectly with its theme of darkness and mystery. It also has a much harder edge than most of the mainstream albums put out this year.

Although I'm not big on labels, I'll try to give an idea of what kind of music you can expect from this album. Most of the songs are a mixture of trip hop, alternative and electronica, while others combine Industrial with metal and techno all at once.

Most of the bands featured are well known, for example Filter was paired up with Crystal Method to create the successful hit called Trip Like I Do. This was one of my favorites along with A Long Road to Hell, performed by Marilyn Manson and Sneaker Pimps, a trip hop band from Britain. The angelic voice of Kelli Dayton from Sneaker Pimps combined perfectly with the background electronic beats, and droning vocals and guitar of Marilyn Manson.

If you're in the mood for a little something new, I strongly urge you to take the time and listen to this album. You won't regret it!

Sneaker Pimps Concert

On September 9th Sneaker Pimps came to town. They played at Sona downtown. The show was the first ever all ages show at Sona. The place was great. There were many different color lights in many different little rooms before the show. When the show started the audience went into the main hall where the Trip-Hop group performed on stage. They played about ten songs including the hits "6 Underground" and "Spin-Spin Sugar". The crowd really enjoyed the music and the performance. We hope to see the group come back to Montreal soon.

Cover of People

So you have a band and you want to make it big, huh? Twenty years ago you would probably have had to work to make that happen, but today record deals are being passed out like flyers at street corners.

"C'mere son. So you say you have a good band..."

Maybe that was a really bad reenactment of how record deals are made, but the point is that they can still happen. All you need is one hit to break you out into the mainstream and voila, you're signing up with Edge Fest, people are having your band's logo tattooed somewhere on their body, groupies are following you around. You're on the cover of People!!!  It's what you wanted, isn't it?

Basically, the reason why you can make it happen today is because people all over the world are starting to catch up with the technology (a sign n doubt that it's about to change). Everyone's buying c.d. players, and now they need the c.d.'s to go with it. Personally, I would never think of buying a c.d.. That's what friends are for. They're more than willing to make you a copy of theirs. I didn't even own a c.d. until two years ago (which by the way, was a Moist Creature c.d.). People have got the money, and they're willing to spend it. All you need to do is write and record the song. Hey, how hard is that (MmmBop!!!!!!!!!!!!!)?

U2 Concert

Forget what the papers said. This show rocked the boat until the entire stadium was being flooded with U2's oldies yet goodies. Who cares if my vision of the band was constantly being blocked out by the guy sitting in front of me. The stage was, like, bigger than our school, and there was not one moment when I felt that my sixty dollars went to waste.

Yup, that's right. $60. No doubt about it, it's a good deal of money for one show that got to me. That and security guards, who are not as tough as they let you believe. Hey, would I have gotten two feet away from Bono if they were. In the end, I realised that listening to the Batman song and seeing Third Eye Blind was well worth the money.

Mr. Bean

Two Fridays ago, I found myself at the movie theatres with my friends contemplating which movie to see. I wanted to see I Know What You Did Last Summer, but unfortunately everyone else had seen it, so much to my dismay we ended up seeing Mr.Bean. Now don't get me wrong, I had seen and enjoyed many Mr.Bean episodes, but the thought of a whole movie of him didn't really thrill me. However, fifteen minutes into the film, I found myself suprisingly enjoying the film more than I'd thought I would. Although the plot of the film was not exactly great, for anyone who's in the mood for a laugh even if your not a Mr.Bean fan, you might be pleasantly surprised.

So Where's Your Chocolate Milk?

Notice the price of chocolate milk lately? Ouch! What's up with that? Does society think that I'm going to pay these prices just to keep the chocolate god that lives inside of me happy (ignoring the fact that this probably the school board that I'm dealing with, or caf man, ruler of caf world. Hey, I like to say the word society)? Well no more. From now on I'm bringing my own chocolate to school to put in my milk. I'm going to bring Hershey's Chocolate Syrup. As much as I want, whenever I want. In fact, I won't even use the milk. I'll drink it as it is, to ensure a full power sugar rush without all those healthy vitamins getting in the way. And I won't share. So there.
